Carbon steel is an alloy consisting of iron and carbon. Several other elements are allowed in carbon steel, with low maximum percentages. These elements are manganese, with a 1.65% maximum, silicon, with a 0.60% maximum, and copper, with a 0.60% maximum. Other factors may be present in quantities too small to affect their properties. The term “carbon steel” may also be used in reference to steel that is not stainless steel; in this use, carbon steel may include alloy steels.

We stock one of the industry’s most extensive inventories of Carbon Steel plates. Carbon Plate is rolled from either continuous cast slabs or ingots to meet customer specifications and chemical composition requirements. Carbon Plate is available in “as rolled” or heat-treated condition in master dimensions or cut to size for a desired part profile.
